One Liverpool player makes it into FIFA's team of the week
Liverpool’s left back James Milner was the only one of Jurgen Klopp’s men to make it into FIFA 17’s Team of the Week after their 5-1 thrashing of Hull City.
Video game or not, the concept of Team of the Week is a simple and easily debated one. Typically, TOTW is confined to just a league or competition, but FIFA tries to bring in an eclectic range of players to choose from as they pick from the entire globe.
That makes it easier to digest that only one Liverpool player made it into TOTW this week, after putting five past Hull City at Anfield this weekend.
James Milner makes it into the team, which must have been convenient for FIFA as this will be the only recognized card of him as a fullback rather than a central midfielder. Here’s the full team.

The being of Milner this season is awesome. He was always an industrious winger, one who’s general play and work rate is more typically found in the Championship than the Premier League. Usually wide places are reserved for foreign players with lightning pace or dribbling ability, not a player who was jack of all trades, master of none. But Milner was always one of the best.
Then last season he was a highly sought after free agent and chose Liverpool on a few premises: he’d play often, he’d play center mid and Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t be fired. Now, he’s playing left back for Jurgen Klopp.

Last weekend he was playing fullback, a position he had no experience in bar a few minutes here and there in desperation last season, and taking the penalties. Milner converted both of his spot kicks, leaving Anfield with two goals and a solid performance even without the goals.
Milner’s never been the prototypical player and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Keep on keeping on, Milly.
