Odense furious at Baggies claims

Danish club Odense issued a statement refuting the claim made on Wednesday by the Baggies that was the reason they were not pursuing the former Manchester United and Aston Villa midfielder. Djemba-Djemba was allowed by his club to fly to England to hold talks with Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo and he watched Tuesday's friendly at Doncaster. But Albion found a problem with Djemba-Djemba's knee when he underwent a medical. Odense director Kim Brink, in a statement, said: "West Brom have confirmed to us that there was a problem with the medical and wanted a lower price. "I don't understand this. I want to confirm that Eric has no injuries whatsoever. Yes, he was injured during the spring but he's ready now. "There are no problems so I think it is a poor explanation by West Brom to get a better price. "People can come and say whatever they want to get a better price but if they really wanted Eric, they would pay what we agreed. "I have experienced a lot in football and most things don't surprise me but this has surprised me because we were really close (to a deal)."
