Odemwingie losing race for fitness

Odemwingie is currently sidelined with a knee injury he picked up in the draw with Bolton three weeks ago and he was forced to miss last weekend's draw at Manchester United. The Nigerian international admits he is making progress on his fitness, but he believes Saturday's home clash with Fulham might come too soon for him. "In the last minute of the game against Bolton I had a volley that I missed and I fell badly because I was running at top speed," he told the club's website. "That stretched something in my knee a little bit and now I have to try to get it better. "I have some regrets now because when that chance came I wanted to hit it hard, but maybe I could have done something else with it and not been injured. "It was in the last minute of the game and I have already missed a game now, but I hope that at worst I have one more game to miss. "I am getting better and a little hope is still there for Saturday."
