Mueller won't get Germany debut next week

Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Mueller won't make his Germany debut in next week's friendly against Ivory Coast after all.

Germany coach Joachim Loew had called up the 20-year-old Mueller for Wednesday's match in Gelsenkirchen.

However, the German federation says Loew has now agreed that Mueller should instead be in the under-21 squad that faces San Marino in a European Championship qualifying match next Tuesday.

Loew said Thursday that the decision was made "on sporting grounds."
