Mourinho lets "images do the talking"
Jose Mourinho refused to respond directly to UEFA's announcement that it was opening disciplinary proceedings against the Real Madrid coach for his comments following his team's 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League.
"An image is worth more than words," Mourinho said on Friday, referring to video supposedly showing that Madrid defender Pepe did not touch Barcelona's Dani Alves with his studs-first challenge that led to his red card in the semifinal first leg on Wednesday.
"And now there are so many images making their way around the world that I have nothing more to say."
The Portuguese coach said his players were not to blame for the defeat to Madrid's fierce rivals and laughed when asked if his aggressive style of play played a part in the sending off. Madrid has been reduced to 10 men in each of its four encounters with Barcelona this season.
Mourinho also reaffirmed his commitment to the Spanish giant.
"I am ever more motivated to continue at Madrid, for its white colors and their meaning," he said.
Barcelona announced on Thursday that it was reporting Mourinho to UEFA for his accusations that the Catalan side had received help from UEFA referees in recent years.
Madrid countered with its own request that UEFA look into the alleged "unsportsmanlike behavior" of Barcelona's players.
The two teams face off for the fourth time in less than three weeks next Tuesday, in the return leg at Camp Nou stadium.
Madrid, which beat Barcelona 1-0 to win the Copa del Rey last weekend, is eight points behind Spanish league leader Barcelona with five rounds to play.
