Mourinho continues overhaul as Mkhitaryan joins Manchester United
MANCHESTER, England -- Newly hired Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has continued the reshaping of his squad by signing attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal.
United announced the signing Wednesday without disclosing the fee for the Armenia international, who scored 23 goals for Dortmund last season and was the German league's player of the year.
Mourinho, who has already signed striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and center back Eric Bailly this offseason, says the 27-year-old Mkhitaryan ''is a real team player with great skill, vision and also has a good eye for goal.''
Mkhitaryan said signing for United ''honors my father's memory, and the inspiration and drive he gave to me when I was young.''
He likely will be one of the three attacking midfielders in United's lineup this season.
