Montpellier coach Rolland Courbis resigns

MONTPELLIER, France -- Montpellier coach Rolland Courbis has resigned following a dispute with the French league club's president.

Courbis' relationship with Louis Nicollin deteriorated over the past weeks and the coach had recently complained about ''nervous fatigue.''

Earlier this week, Nicollin told a local newspaper he was upset by Courbis' reported criticism of Montpellier's medical staff.

Courbis returned to Montpellier for a second spell in 2013 after leading the southern club back to the top flight in 2009.

Montpellier, which sits three points above the relegation zone, said in a statement it will appoint Courbis' successor on Sunday.
