Montenegro keeps rolling after victory
Mirko Vucinic scored in the 67th minute to help Montenegro beat Switzerland 1-0 Friday for its third straight victory in European Championships qualifying.
Vucinic scored from a dead angle, placing the ball behind Swiss goalkeeper Marco Wolffli after a neat 1-2 with midfielder Mitar Novakovic in the penalty area.
Switzerland pushed forward in the last 10 minutes but hosts managed to protect the lead. Montenegro goalkeeper Mladen Bozovic stopped Eren Derdiyok's 25-meter (yard) free kick in the 72nd and Alexander Frei's shot from 15 meters out.
Montenegro next plays England at Wembley on Tuesday. The tiny Adriatic Sea state is playing its first European championship qualifiers after splitting from Serbia in 2006.
AC Roma forward Vucinic could have scored earlier, with his shot saved by the Swiss goalkeeper in the 18th minute and when he missed the target in the 40th.
"The English are probably looking differently at us after the three victories in qualifying," Montenegro coach Cico Kranjcar said. "We won't go to Wembley for shopping, but to play and try to get at least a draw."
