Millers want Frecklington to stay

Bolton have been dealt a double blow with the news that Mark Davies and Matt Mills have picked up long-term injuries.

Midfielder Davies played and scored in the 2-2 draw with Huddersfield on Saturday but sustained a shoulder injury after falling awkwardly.

Although Davies completed the full 90 minutes, Wanderers confirmed via their Twitter account that the ex-Wolves man had undergone surgery on the injury and is set to miss up to three months.

Former Leicester defender Mills also picked up his injury against the Terriers, coming off five minutes prior to the end with a thigh injury.

Dougie Freedman's side are now likely to be without the defender for up to six weeks.

On Davies, who has appeared in all but one of Bolton's league games this term, Freedman told the club's official website: "Unfortunately we'll lose Mark for a period of time. He's cracked his shoulder and unfortunately in football these kind of incidents occur.

"Mark loves his football and was desperate to stay on at Huddersfield. Unfortunately he was in some discomfort on Monday morning and the scan confirmed the news."

It is a big blow to Wanderers, currently 18th in the Championship table, as they prepare for a congested festive fixture list in which they face three teams below them before the end of December.

Taylor has been in talks over a contract extension for a number of weeks.

The left-back has established himself as one of Swansea's key performers since arriving from Wrexham in 2010.

The Wales international was instrumental in Swansea's success in the Premier League last term and he represented Team GB in the 2012 Olympics.

Taylor, who suffered multiple fractures and a dislocation to his left ankle in the third game of this season, is making good progress with his rehabilitation and the club are keen to reward him with an extension despite the defender still having two-and-half-years to run on his current terms.

Swansea have recently tied down defender Ashley Williams and Michel Vorm to new contracts and Taylor is set to follow suit by signing a long-term deal.

The 29-year-old joined the Royals on a free transfer in the summer and started the season by scoring four goals in eight appearances.

However, he has since fallen out of favour and currently seems to be behind the likes of Jason Roberts and Adam Le Fondre in the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium.

Although he says he has not yet discussed the situation with Reading owner and compatriot Anton Zingarevich, he hinted that talks may be on the cards.

"Not yet, but maybe we should do it soon," Pogrebnyak told Sovsport.ru when asked if he had spoken with Zingarevich.

Pogrebnyak, who did rule out a move back to his home country, still believes his side have the quality to survive the drop despite currently being six points adrift of safety.

He added: "The situation became tough after our defeat against Southampton but we have good players. But someone should whisper correctly how and what we should do on the pitch."

The midfielder has been on loan at New York since October and has impressed Millers boss Steve Evans enough to try and make the deal a permanent one in January.

The two clubs tentatively met a fortnight ago to discuss a fee and a second round of negotiations are set for next week.

Evans said: "There are further talks next week. I am just waiting to hear.

"Lee Frecklington has made it perfectly clear through his choice he wants to be at Rotherham United. It's now up to the clubs to agree a fee.

"It is more likely to happen than not to happen, but as we have learned it is difficult and we don't talk about it in any great detail until the papers are signed."
