Marseille signs Rennes defender Fanni

France and Rennes defender Rod Fanni is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Marseille.

The defending French champions said they have agreed to a deal with the Rennes player, who is expected to undergo medical tests later Wednesday.

Marseille was looking for a replacement for injured right back Cesar Azpilicueta, who tore the anterior cruciate ligaments in his knee and is out for six months.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
