Marcus Rashford's incredible EPL debut connects him to Wayne Rooney in an unlikely way
Marcus Rashford's incredible Premier League debut on Sunday was sweetened by a startling fact connecting him to England's all-time leading scorer, Wayne Rooney.
With the injured Rooney looking on at Old Trafford wearing a hefty knee brace, Rashford scored twice against Arsenal to carry the Red Devils to a momentous win and provide for an eerie coincidence: both Rashford and Rooney scored their first EPL brace at the exact same age: 18 years, 120 days.
You couldn't make this stuff up.
Rashford, who was thrust into United's starting lineup after prized young star Anthony Martial joined Rooney on the sidelines, has now gone from unknown teen to toast of the town in a span of just four days, and Twitter, as Twitter's wont to do, naturally reacted with some hilarious, over-the-top banter:
Time taken to score four goals this season.
