Marco Asensio scores beautiful chip in Real Madrid's season opener

Marco Asensio has taken full advantage of Cristiano Ronaldo's absence to show exactly why he deserves his shot in Madrid's first team.

Asensio scored a 25-yard cracker in his competitive debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup, and Zinedine Zidane picked him ahead of Isco, James Rodriguez and last year's favorite son Lucas Vazquez for their opening La Liga match on Sunday. After Gareth Bale gave Real an early lead, Asensio popped up again to show exactly why he's so highly rated in Spain.

Too cool. Too calm. Wayyyyy too collected.

Madrid fought off interest from Barcelona to sign Asensio from Mallorca two years ago, sending him out on loan for two years before giving him his chance this season.

Named after Dutch legend Marco van Basten, Asensio was actually eligible for Holland through his mother. He never received a call-up though, and he's since gone on to represent Spain at every level, earning his first senior cap for La Furia Roja in May.

Something tells me this won't be the last we'll hear of this kid.
