Manchester City's reported new home kits fail to inspire
Manchester City and their fans have a lot of new changes to look forward to in the upcoming season. Along with a new manager in Pep Guardiola and a new crest released last Boxing Day, fans now have gotten a glimpse of next season's home kit.
Images of the kit leaked on Footy Headlines on Wednesday, with the site reporting that they will be officially unveiled on July 3at Guardiola's presentation. The new home strip isn't an eyesore, but it definitely isn't groundbreaking or beautiful -- and thus a disappointment.
The look is identical to the Vapor kits Nike has been rolling out during this summer's Euro 2016 tournament with the AeroSwift technology. The color schemes are different among the various teams, but the layout and overall design is the same. City's new shirt will feature a sky blue chest and back, with a sky and navy blue pinstripe pattern on the shoulders and sleeves.
For a club that historically produces some stunning kits, this effort falls short of the mark. Maybe they'll look nicer on the pitch, but that's rarely the case. In any event, at least City fans can get pumped about a reported switch to sky blue shorts and white socks, which would be a first for the club.
