Manchester City Injury Update: De Bruyne, Kompany & Delph

Manchester City’s perfect start to the season hit a second speed bump in as many weeks, with in-form Kevin De Bruyne going down this past weekend.

Heading into another double week match, Manchester City are down 5 players for various reasons across competitions. Here is the latest injury report update on the Manchester City players with current issues ahead of the Champions League clash with Celtic Wednesday.

MANCHESTER CITY: TOP 13 GOAL SCORERS OF ALL-TIME

1 – Kevin De Bruyne

The other injuries and suspensions this year have been annoyances, but nothing that couldn’t be dealt with. However, much of City’s amazing start has been down to the play of Kevin. He suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Swansea this past weekend. The club believe that is is nothing too serious and have set a return day of 10/24/16 for him. If he is only out a month, City should be fine – but longer than that could disrupt the great rhythm the team is playing in.

2 – Vincent Kompany

Listed as a muscle issue or fatigue, Kompany cannot seem to catch a break. Pep did not offer a timeline on Vincent’s return yet and the captain has been missing from practice this week. With another international break coming up in October, Man City fans should not expect to see the skipper anytime soon.

3 – Fabian Delph

Still absent from practice due to a small knock he picked up a few weeks back. Listed as a muscle injury, the club haven’t commented further on why Delph’s return seems to keep getting pushed each week. As of now he is listed to return this weekend based on a fitness test later in the week.

4 – Nolito

Not injured, but still unavailable for FA matches after his red card. Will be available for league ties by 10/15. Given that he is rested and the injuries above, Nolito seems like a safe bet for the starting line-up Wednesday against Celtic.

5 – Yaya Toure

Not injured and not suspended, but also not playing. After the war of words last week between Pep and Yaya’s agent, it appears the Ivorian will be in the reserves until a likely January transfer. Barring a series of injuries it is hard to see Pep going back to Yaya unless an apology is given.
