Man City striker Aguero in contention to start against Chelsea

Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini will hope for rare wins over Chelsea and Jose Mourinho when they meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is in contention to start with the Argentina international being eased back into action after international duty over the summer.

Midfielders Fabian Delph (hamstring) and Fernando (groin) are the only definite absentees while left-back Gael Clichy (ankle) will be assessed.

A one-match ban means Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be absent.

The Belgium international was sent off in the second half of the Blues' 2-2 season opener with Swansea, earning a one-match ban which the club failed to overturn. Asmir Begovic is likely to deputise.

Oscar is a doubt for the match after picking up a knock in training, but Diego Costa is in line to start in attack after overcoming a recurring hamstring injury and playing the full 90 minutes last weekend.
