Mallorca midfielder Pereira to miss season-opener

Mallorca midfielder Michael Pereira will miss his team's Spanish league season-opener after injuring his leg in a preseason friendly.

The Spanish club announced on Monday that the 23-year-old Frenchman will be out for one month after he pulled a ligament and twisted his right ankle in his team's match at Dutch side Groningen.

Last season, Pereira scored six goals in his debut season for Mallorca's first team.

Mallorca opens its league campaign at Rayo Vallecano on Aug. 21.
