Lionel Messi snaps another Barcelona record with odd free-kick goal

It seems like every day Lionel Messi is setting a record of some kind. Saturday was no exception, as the Barcelona talisman wrote his name into the club record books yet again.

This time, he slotted a wide-angle effort home to take sole possession of the Barcelona record for most goals scored via the free kick.

Now, we're used to seeing Messi score from free kicks, but not usually from that angle. Athletic Bilbao keeper Gorka Iraizoz definitely looks to have gotten something on the ball, but whatever it was wasn't nearly enough. (Note: Messi already got Gorka's number with this beauty earlier in the Copa del Rey, so maybe it's just hopeless for Gorka.)

That peculiar goal pushed Messi past Ronald Koeman for the record of goals scored via free kick. The Argentine now boasts 27 free-kick goals as a Blaugrana, a tally he'll likely just add to.

At this point, we're better off counting the records Messi doesn't have with Barcelona than listing the ones he does. It'd save a lot of time.
