Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz to miss UCL second leg against Atletico because of exams

Bayer Leverkusen have a huge task to overturn their 4-2 first leg loss to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Atleti not only grabbed four away goals, but their home form has been nearly impeccable in Europe, with just two losses in their last 33 games in the Vicente Calderon.

Leverkusen have to do without suspended midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu for this one, and they'll also be without 17-year-old starlet Kai Havertz.

He won't make it because of exams.

Promising young attacking midfielder Havertz, who made his debut for Leverkusen last October, has already made 16 Bundesliga appearances this season, providing three assists in his short tenure in the first team.

Havertz made his first Champions League start against Atletico in the first leg, and he was in line to be in Leverkusen's squad for the second leg as well -- but school got in the way.

How strict is this school?? Even a chance to play in club soccer's most prestigious competition can't get Havertz out of his exam? They couldn't postpone the test for 24 hours?

It's a rough life for a teenager.
