Levante fail to leave drop zone after dropping points at Espanyol

Espanyol equalized in the second half to draw 1-1 with Levante in the Spanish league on Monday.

Levante went ahead in the seventh minute when a defensive error by Chilean Enzo Roco gifted the ball to midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who blasted the ball past goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

Gerard Moreno came on as a substitute at halftime and 12 minutes later scored from Victor Sanchez's pinpoint pass after a quick counter-attack started by Felipe Caicedo.

Levante is 19th in the standings on 11 points after 14 rounds and Espanyol is 12th.

Barcelona leads on 34 points, with Atletico Madrid second on 32 and Real Madrid is third on 30.
