Ledley King Describes What Tottenham's Signings Bring to Team

Tottenham have added three traits to their team this summer.

To further add some insight after Ossie Ardiles comments, regarding Tottenham’s summer signings, Ledley King provides his own assessment.

And they are three simple traits: pace, power and flair.

These are the things that King believes Spurs will get with the additions of Vincent Janssen, Victor Wanyama, Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, Pau López and Moussa Sissoko.

The pace would come from Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, Moussa Sissoko and even Vincent Janssen.

Both Sissoko and Janssen won’t offer enough speed to outrun their defenders but they’re not slow.

Power obviously comes from the pair of Victor Wanyama and Sissoko.

There’s a chance both players form a pair sometime this season or play separately from one another.

But make no mistake, they’ll be outmuscling the opposition to win the ball back which helps maintain Mauricio Pochettino’s ethos of a high-press system.

Adding more flair doesn’t hurt. Last season, Spurs went about their business with a dominate defense and eye-catching attacking football.

This year, it hasn’t started out as expected, but as the year goes on, Spurs should get their bearings straight. And when they do, their swagger will be back.

Helping Tottenham return to form once the international break is over, will be three key players.

For a while, it seemed like Tottenham would end the transfer window with two signings and a depleted squad. But it appears that their losses have been replaced with better talent.

Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli and Ryan Mason have essentially be upgraded by Wanyama, N’Koudou, and Sissoko respectively.

Wanyama and Sissoko provides good depth and can start in place of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembélé. This presents Pochettino with some options in central midfield.

With N’Koudou, once he gets acclimated to the team he could start opposite of Érik Lamela and help provide another direct player who looks forward once Spurs get possession of the ball.

Victor Wanyama has started all three games since joining, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou will earn plenty of minutes this year.

The addition of Pau López saw Luke McGee go on a short loan until January. That gives one of Spurs’ young academy graduates at goalkeeper some first-team opportunities.

Overall, the additions that Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy brought in does indeed make Tottenham’s squad much stronger now.

Spurs managed to swap young, talented but mostly inexperienced players with a blend of youth and veterans who have enjoyed first-team football with their previous clubs.

There will be some shaking up to do in the starting XI that will be on a game-by-game basis depending on Spurs’ opponents.

Pochettino could elect to maintain his 4-2-3-1 formation, or he could switch it up and prefer to play in a 4-2-2-2.

Either way, there is now enough firepower to build on what Spurs managed to do in their opening three games.
