Latest Leverkusen loss puts heat on Dutt

Freiburg increased the pressure on their former coach Robin Dutt with a 2-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen.

Julian Schuster and Daniel Caligiuri scored the goals for the strugglers, who have now picked up 13 points from their last five games, moving clear of the relegation zone as a result.

Leverkusen remain in sixth, but this latest defeat could well be Dutt's last as the fans made their feelings clear at the end of another disappointing match for last season's Bundesliga runners-up.

Christian Streich's side needed just eight minutes to get one over their former coach with Schuster putting the visitors in front.

Gonzalo Castro, who was one of several Leverkusen players being observed by Germany coach Joachim Low, did not leave a good impression with his attempted clearance, which was an invitation for Schuster to head in.

Leverkusen struggled to get a foothold in the game and the home fans vented their frustration as their team failed to show any attacking intent.

The home side finally reacted with Simon Rolfes and Stefan Kiessling both going close with efforts in the last 10 minutes of the first half.

Those efforts did not save Leverkusen from a chorus of disapproval at the half-time whistle and the situation deteriorated on the hour mark when Freiburg grabbed a second.

Caligiuri was given the freedom of the field to advance towards goal and fire an unstoppable shot into the top right corner.

The Leverkusen fans voted with their feet, leaving the BayArena long before the final whistle.

And their team did not respond either, increasing the pressure on Dutt, who led Freiburg to safety last season.
