Klopp fuming at Subotic red card

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was furious with the referee over Neven Subotic's red card during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Kaiserslautern.

The league leaders were on course for a 1-0 victory until their defender was shown a second yellow card, and then the home side equalised in the final minute to reduce Dortmund's lead at the top of the table to 10 points.

Klopp raced to remonstrate with the officials at the final whistle and he pointed the finger at them for denting his side's title push.

"I was stood on the sideline and the referee is right there and I could see it was a dive, yet he saw it as a foul," Klopp told ZDF television.

"I have just seen the incident again on television and the man who was further away got it right.

"It was never a red card. I would expect the referee to show a bit more common sense.

"I cannot understand this decision at all."

Klopp was also disappointed that his side had not been given a penalty when Thanos Petsos appeared to reach out and pushed the ball away from Mario Gotze inside the area.

"They always say that it is difficult with handballs to judge whether it was intentional or not and I guess that extraordinary arm movement is just unintentional," added Klopp with irony.

"We had a lot of bad luck today, but the result is fine.

"We may have been the better team, but we did not deserve more because we just did too little."
