Kissinger watches hometown team
Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger returned to his hometown on Saturday, watching Greuther Fuerth lose 2-0 to Schalke.
The 89-year-old Kissinger, whose family fled Nazi Germany in 1938, had promised to attend a game at the Ronhof stadium if Fuerth was promoted to the German first division.
Kissinger tried to watch games there as a child, even though it was against the wishes of his parents.
The former diplomat said in German before the game that ''my father wanted me to go to the opera, but I was always for the (Fuerth) games and I tried to sneak in.
''I was caught every time, and then there was trouble at home.''
