Juventus striker Mandzukic has 10 stitches applied to ankle

TURIN, Italy (AP) Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has had 10 stitches applied to a deep cut in his right ankle, putting him at risk of missing the final three Serie A matches of the Turin squad's title chase.

Mandzukic was stepped on by Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino early in Juventus' 3-2 win Saturday, drawing a red card for Vecino.

Juventus said only that Mandzukic was at ''serious risk'' of missing next Saturday's match against Bologna.

Juventus is on course for a record-extending seventh straight title but is being challenged by Napoli.

It was unclear if the surgery will affect Mandzukic's status for the World Cup with Croatia.
