Juve wants Inter stripped of 2006 title
Juventus will ask Italian football authorities to strip Inter Milan
of the 2006 Serie A title, which was assigned amid a match-fixing
scandal.
Inter was awarded the league title after Juventus was
stripped of the honor and relegated to Serie B due to its role in
the scandal.
But in a statement Monday, Juventus said new revelations have
emerged that allegedly show that Inter benefited from contacts with
refereeing officials.
Italian media have recently printed purported phone-tap
conversations linking Inter and other clubs to the scandal. The new
wiretaps have been exposed by former Juventus executive Luciano
Moggi, who is on trial in Naples.
The statement said that "Juventus asks for equal treatment."
