Jordan striker al-Saify to miss rest of Asian Cup

Jordan striker Oday al-Saify, who scored the winning goal against Syria, will miss the rest of the Asian Cup due to a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old al-Saify, who plays for Cypriot side Alki, struck in the second half Monday to take Jordan through to the quarterfinals against Uzbekistan. But as his team celebrated, al-Saify could be seen limping on the sidelines.

Jordan team manager Osama Talal told the Asian Cup website that al-Saify will need ''four weeks'' to recover.

The loss of al-Saify is the latest headache for coach Adnan Hamad, who is already missing injured defenders Hatem Aqel and Anas Bani Yaseen and will be without the suspended Basem Fathi for the Uzbekistan match after the defender picked up two yellow cards.
