Johnson leaves game with possible hamstring injury
U.S. forward Eddie Johnson left Aris' Greek league playoff game against AEK Athens on Wednesday with a possible hamstring injury.
Selected a day earlier for the 30-man preliminary World Cup roster, Johnson came out in the 42nd minute. Fellow American Freddy Adu, who was not selected for the World Cup roster, started and was substituted in the 76th minute.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie when Leonardo scored for AEK in injury time. In the other match, PAOK beat Olympiakos 1-0.
With two matches left for each team in the six-game playoffs, PAOK leads with 13 points, six ahead of Olympiakos. The top team goes to the third qualifying round of the Champions League, and the others will play in the Europa League.
