Inter Milan confirm long-serving midfielder Cambiasso set for exit

Inter Milan have confirmed that Esteban Cambiasso will leave at the end of the season after a decade at the San Siro.

The Argentine midfielder joined the Nerazurri from Real Madrid in 2004, and has played over 400 times while helping the club win five Serie A titles and the Champions League under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

Now aged 34, the former River Plate player has previously stated that he was keen to continue his career beyond the end of his current Inter contract.

But while the club have made clear that Cambiasso's playing time with them is at an end, they are open to him returning in some capacity in the future.

"Cambiasso will not renew his contract because we haven't offered him a renewal," said Inter's technical director Piero Ausilio.

"He waited for our decision until now, and for that he must be thanked, but I'm convinced that in his future he'll have a role at Inter."
