Injured defender Alba to miss Barcelona's Super Cup matches

BARCELONA, Spain --

Barcelona says left back Jordi Alba will be sidelined for 10-15 days due to injury, ruling him out of both upcoming European and Spanish Super Cup matches.

Alba injured his right leg with around 15 minutes to play in Barcelona's 3-0 win over AC Roma to conclude its preseason on Wednesday.

Barcelona plays Sevilla in the European Super Cup in Tbilisi, Georgia, next Tuesday.

The club then faces Athletic Bilbao in the two legs of the Spanish Super Cup on Aug. 14 and 17 before also visiting the Basque side in their Spanish league opener on Aug. 23.

Brazilian back Adriano will likely take Alba's place.

Barcelona is playing in both Super Cups after winning the Champions League, Spanish League and Copa del Rey last season.
