Indonesia's Persipura cleared for ACL

Persipura Jayapura has won a first appeal to play in the Asian Champions League in a legal battle with Indonesia's Football Association.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it granted Persipura a provisional ruling to face Adelaide United in a two-leg playoff this month.

CAS says a full hearing can judge Persipura's case to stay in Asia's top club competition if it advances to the group stage.

Persipura believed it qualified by winning the Indonesian Super League, which is not recognized by the national association (PSSI).

The club has declined invitations to join the PSSI-sanctioned Indonesian Premier League.

CAS says the Asian Football Confederation refused PSSI's request to enter Persija Jakarta instead of Persipura.
