Holden makes Bolton return

American midfielder Stuart Holden returned from a broken leg to play for Bolton, while U.S. teammate Oguchi Onyewu is still out for AC Milan.

Holden came in as a substitute in the 65th minute of Bolton's season-ending 2-0 win over Birmingham on Sunday. Onyewu didn't dress after traveling with AC Milan for a 1-0 loss at Genoa.

"Felt really good to get back on the field today and a great way to end the season!!" Holden wrote on his Twitter account.

Holden left Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo to sign with Bolton last winter and started two matches before breaking his right leg playing for the United States in a 2-1 loss to the Netherlands on March 3.

Onyewu had left knee surgery Oct. 21 after tearing his patellar tendon during a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica. The defender joined AC Milan last summer from Belgium's Standard Liege but played in just one of 10 competitive matches before getting hurt.

AC Milan closes the Serie A season May 16 at home against Juventus.

Forward Brian Ching dressed for Houston on Saturday night for the first time since straining his left hamstring April 1 but didn't appear in the 2-0 win at Chivas USA.
