Heinze to leave Marseille

Argentina defender Gabriel Heinze has confirmed that he will leave Marseille at the end of the season.

The former Manchester United player joined the club last season from Real Madrid and was instrumental in helping Didier Deschamps' team win the league and League Cup double.

Heinze, who scored 3 goals in 30 league matches this season, will play his last game with Marseille on Sunday. He didn't say where he will play next season but added the match at Caen would be his ''last in France.''

Heinze added that his decision to leave was not linked to the uncertainty surrounding Deschamps' future at the club.

Marseille is guaranteed to finish second in the league standings when the championship ends on Sunday.
