Guillermo Varela suspended, told to leave Eintracht Frankfurt after getting tattoo
Guillermo Varela just wanted a tattoo. The problem? Eintracht Frankfurt told him not to get one. But Varela got one anyway and now he's both suspended and without a club for next season.
Varela has been on loan with Frankfurt this season, but has struggled with injuries. He's had a good run of form lately, though. Frankfurt seemed interested in turning his loan from Manchester United into a permanent deal. Then he violated his manager's instructions not to get a tattoo.
Varela's tattoo got inflamed.
Frankfurt suspended Varela.
Now, the club decided they won't make Varela's loan permanent, basically telling him to get out.
"His behavior was reckless and hurts the team," sporting executive Fredi Bobic said in a statement. "Guillermo's path at Eintracht ends here. The club can't put up with a player acting against the coach's and doctors' instructions.
"We were already considering extending his loan. But that's naturally no longer an issue. Guillermo will be suspended with immediate effect."
It was all starting to look up for Varela. Then a tattoo ruined it all.
