Grant warns against Pompey sales
Owner Ali Al-Faraj has put the entire squad up for sale in a bid to clear some of their crippling £80million debts with David James, Younes Kaboul, John Utaka and Nadir Belhadj all tipped to leave the club this month. New signings at Fratton Park are also unlikely as they are under a transfer embargo until they clear unpaid debts to rival clubs. Grant, however, insists they must hold onto their prized assets if they are to stand any chance of making it out of the relegation zone, and even remains hopeful of increasing competition within his ranks. He said: "From a football point of view, we cannot afford to lose any players, absolutely not. "We need to keep all the players, we even need to bring two or three more in. "I don't like to buy players in January, but because of the situation on the pitch, and because in some positions we don't have any players, we need players. "Even if I cannot buy players, we still need to stick with this squad."
