Gomez 1st American to share Mexican scoring title

Herculez Gomez has become the first American player to win or share the Mexican league's regular season scoring title.

Gomez tied for the Clausura lead with 10 goals for Puebla, matching Javier Hernandez of Chivas and Johan Fano of Atlante.

Hernandez has not played for Chivas for a month and Gomez was suspended from Puelba's final match after picking up two yellow cards last weekend.

Gomez, who was born in Los Angeles to Mexican-born parents and grew up in Las Vegas, played 758 minutes. Hernandez played 892 and Fano 1,168.
