Ghana play down Gyan injury

The Black Cats hitman scored the opening goal in his country's 2-0 win over Swaziland on Friday but was stretchered off in the 38th minute with a thigh problem. He was immediately ruled out of Ghana's friendly against Brazil on Monday with concerns he could face an extended spell on the sidelines. But team doctor, Percy Anan, told the Ghana FA's official website: "The scans revealed that there was no muscle tear in his thigh but he felt contusion in the area. He would be able to return to action soon." The 25-year-old admitted he was disappointed not to be able to face Brazil but remained philosophical. "I would have really wished to feature in this one but I totally understand what the medics are saying. It's fine by me and I will cheer the guys on," he said.
