Gervinho completes switch to Arsenal

Arsenal has completed the signing of Ivory Coast striker Gervinho from French club Lille.

The 24-year-old forward had his move approved by the Football Association and Premier League on Monday. Arsenal says in a statement he signed a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

British media widely reported that Arsenal paid about 11 million pounds ($17.5 million) for the player who scored 28 goals in 67 appearances over two years for Lille.

Gervinho told the club's website that his arrival at Arsenal was ''one of the most beautiful days of my life.''
