Germany's Rolfes to miss World Cup
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Simon Rolfes will miss the World Cup because of a knee injury.
The German soccer federation says the 28-year-old defensive midfielder told Germany coach Joachim Loew on Tuesday that he would not be ready in time for the World Cup.
Rolfes had an operation to remove damaged cartilage from his right knee in January and has not played since.
Loew will announce his provisional squad Thursday.
