Germany's Antonio Rudiger ruled out of Euro 2016 with reported ACL tear
In a summer fraught with injuries in both the Copa America Centenario and Euro 2016, Germany has confirmed that 23-year-old Roma central defender Antonio Rudiger has gone down with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament in training and will miss the tournament in France. Germany, who are also missing Dortmund pair Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan due to injury, have not yet named a replacement for the Berlin-born defender.

Rudiger played 37 matches for Roma in his debut season for the Giallorossi, helping the capital club secure Champions League qualification with a third-place Serie A finish. He earned his first cap for Germany in October of 2014, and has appeared in 11 matches for his country since then.
Rudiger was widely linked to a transfer away from Roma this summer, with new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte reportedly interested in acquiring his services. (Fellow centre-back Kostas Manolas' future in Roma also remains up in the air after he registered interest from around the continent.) However, with his unfortunate injury and the typical recovery time associated with an ACL tear, Rudiger will most likely stay put in Italy for the time being.
