Gent coach leaves after bad start to season
BRUSSELS (AP) Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebroeck is leaving following a bad start to the Belgian league season.
The coach and club took the decision by mutual consent. Gent chairman Ivan De Witte said that ''for all parties it was better not to continue the cooperation.''
Vanhaezebroeck led the team to its first Belgian league title two years ago and also added the Super Cup and a good run into the second round of the Champions League the year after.
This season though, it is languishing in 14th place in the 16-team Jupiler league with only six points from eight games.
There is media speculation that Vanhaezebroeck might move to Anderlecht, which recently got rid of its coach.
