Fiorentina striker Ljajic handed 2-match ban

Fiorentina's hopes of Champions League action next season have been dealt a blow with a two-match ban for striker Adem Ljajic.

Ljajic was punished by the Italian league for insulting the referee after Fiorentina's 1-0 loss to Roma on Saturday.

Fiorentina is provisionally a point behind AC Milan in the race for third spot and a place in the Champions League qualifiers. Milan plays Torino later Sunday.

Ljajic will miss matches against Siena and Palermo but will be available for the final game against Pescara.

The Serbia striker hit the headlines last season when he was punched by then manager Delio Rossi in the dugout. Rossi was fired by Fioretina because of the incident.
