FA finds West Ham guilty of breaching rules

Premier League team West Ham has been found guilty of breaching Football Association rules following crowd violence at the club's League Cup match against Millwall.

The FA's regulatory commission will decide on the punishment on Friday. The team could be fined and forced to play some matches in an empty stadium.

"The FA will now await the full written reasons from the independent commission before making any further comment," the FA said in a statement.

West Ham was found guilty of a failure to ensure their supporters refrained from violent, threatening, obscene and provocative behavior, and failure to ensure their supporters did not enter the field of play.

Millwall was cleared of all charges stemming from the match in August, and both clubs had charges of failing to prevent racist behavior by fans declared as "not proven" by a disciplinary panel.

A Millwall fan was stabbed outside Upton Park and 64 arrests were made.
