Everton target Yacine Brahimi on Deadline Day

Everton target Yacine Brahimi on Deadline Day

With transfer deadline day drawing ever closer, Everton are looking to make at least one more move. That could come in the form of Porto winger, Yacine Brahimi.

According to multiple reports from Portugal and England, Everton are close to agreeing a deal for the Algerian winger who scored nine goals last season.

One report, from O Jogo, even suggested that the winger is already on Merseyside ahead of the two clubs agreeing terms.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is looking to be active on deadline day and the versatile Brahimi could be his biggest target. Brahimi would likely cost Everton around £35 million pounds, smashing the club  record of £28 million pounds.

Brahimi, 26, missed FC Porto’s game against Sporting Lisbon and also missed Algeria’s training camp this week. He is reportedly preparing to leave the Portuguese giants.

If he is to make the move to Goodison Park, it may mean the end for Aaron Lennon who has found limited opportunities so far under Koeman.

The Algerian would be the second winger Everton have signed for a big fee this summer, following Yannick Bolasie from Crystal Palace.

Who is Brahimi?

The winger appeared on the footballing radar during his spell at Granada in 2013. While choosing to play for Algeria, Brahimi is also a graduate of the famed Clairefontaine academy in France.

The Algerian is a talented dribbler who can play on the wing and even behind the striker if needed but has been criticised for his lack of end product in the final third.

The same was said for Bolaise who Everton splashed out £25 million pounds for earlier this window.

It’s clear that Ronald Koeman has a system in mind and rates both Bolasie and Brahimi highly.

With Everton leaving some key transfer business until late, there are a number of deals to keep an eye on throughout the day.

The Blues are still chasing Manolo Gabbiadini from Napoli, with the player reportedly ready to join. The only thing holding the deal back is Napoli’s inability to sign a replacement.

Ronald Koeman still wants to add another centre-back to his squad. Sunderland’s Lamine Kone remains a top target but again that relies on Sunderland finding a replacement.
