PSV Eindhoven maintained its three-point lead at the top of the
Dutch league after a goal from Ola Toivonen secured a 1-0 victory
over Heracles Almelo on Sunday.
Toivonen scored in the 58th minute after collecting a pass
from Balazs Dzsudzsak as PSV stretched its unbeaten run to 23
games.
PSV has 61 points, while FC Twente, which won 2-1 at Vitesse
Arnhem on Saturday, is second with 58. Ajax beat SC Heerenveen 2-0
to stay third with 52 points.
Defending champion AZ Alkmaar moved up to sixth after beating
Roda JC 2-0 on Saturday.
In Sunday's other games, FC Utrecht held Feyenoord to a 0-0
draw and FC Groningen beat last-place RKC Waalwijk 2-1. Fredrik
Stenman and Andreas Granqvist scored in each half for Groningen,
while Derk Boerrigter replied in the 89th minute for RKC.
Joshua John and Edouard Duplan scored first half goals in
Sparta Rotterdam's 2-0 win over VVV-Venlo.
In other weekend games, it was: NEC Nijmegen 4, NAC Breda 2;
