Dortmund had the chance to take the lead just before half-time when Medojevic fouled Gonzalo Castro inside the penalty area. A spot-kick was awarded while the Frankfurt defender was shown his second yellow card, but Aubameyang sent the penalty wide of the goal.
Hradecky did his best in trying to keep the Westphalians at bay, but his and Frankfurt's resistance was broken in the 57th minute when Aubameyang converted Shinji Kagawa's cross at the far post.
Hummels added a third four minutes later to give Dortmund a cushion, but they still wanted more.
Kagawa lifted a shot onto the roof of the net as their pressure continued, with Ramos sent on to give further weight to their attack.
He added a fourth too with a fine volley from Lukasz Piszczek's cross to complete a convincing win for Dortmund in the 86th minute.
