Denmark's Vejle signs 1-yr deal with US defender

Danish soccer team Vejle has signed a one-year contract with American defender Euan Holden.

The second-division club said late Saturday it had reached the deal with the 22-year-old, who played for the University of New Mexico.

Vejle coach Mats Gren said Holden is a ``young and very talented player'' and has the advantage of being an all-around player that can play both as defenseman and midfielder. Gren said he is ``strong, fast and has the will to develop.''

Vejle was relegated to the Danish second division in May and is in eighth place.
