Denmark 'keeper Sorensen's elbow won't need surgery
Denmark goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen's hopes of playing at the World Cup have been boosted after being told his elbow injury doesn't require surgery.
Sorensen dislocated his right elbow Sunday after colliding with Salomon Kalou while he was scoring Chelsea's second goal in a 7-0 victory against Stoke.
Sorensen was taken from Stamford Bridge to the hospital, where the elbow was put back in without an operation.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis said Monday that "if he had needed an operation, he'd have struggled to make the World Cup, but there is some encouraging news in that it was put back without the need for that."
The injury came 50 days before Denmark's World Cup opener against the Netherlands on June 14 in Johannesburg.
