Del Bosque believes football is free of doping

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque says he has never witnessed doping in football and doesn't suspect it happens.

The World Cup-winning coach - who is nominated for football coach of the year - believes the cycling and athletics doping scandals in Spain are isolated incidents.

Del Bosque says it is ''nearly impossible'' that football players use performance-enhancing drugs and that the sport is ''completely clean.''

Alberto Contador could lose his Tour de France title and be banned after failing a doping test, while 14 people - including world steeplechase champion Marta Dominguez - were detained in raids across the country last week in Operation Galgo.

Del Bosque, whose playing career began in the 1970s, previously coached Real Madrid.
