De Bruyne happy at Bremen

Kevin de Bruyne has assured Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf that he is not unhappy at the club despite a recent translated interview he gave.

De Bruyne, who is on loan with Bremen from Chelsea for the season, was quoted as saying he had not been able to settle in Germany.

However, after speaking with Schaaf of his own initiative, the issue has been dealt with, according to the coach.

"Kevin called me to clarify the situation which had arisen after he gave an interview to a Belgian newspaper and this was translated by German media," said Schaaf.

"It was a positive chat and it was important that he called me.

"It is true that Kevin has not yet really clicked with Bremen. It is his first spell abroad and he feels detached from his circle of friends in Belgium.

"Kevin has assured me that he does not have any problems with the club or his team-mates."

De Bruyne has also played down suggestions he has failed to settle in northern Germany, saying he is "happy to be given the chance to play".

The Belgium international has made a positive impact with the 2004 Bundesliga champions, scoring three goals already this season and taking part in all eight of the club's games.

"In the translating process, some things obviously went wrong," said the player, putting the record straight via Twitter.

"I really am happy in Bremen and I'm fully adapting to the German mentality.

"I'm here to learn and I'm learning each and every day, I only said that I miss my friends and my life in Belgium, but I certainly didn't say that I am unhappy here."
