Davies' comeback continues, earns spot with United
Charlie Davies has earned a spot with D.C. United, having proven he's sufficiently recovered from a car crash that nearly took his life.
The club announced Wednesday it has completed a deal to take Davies on loan from French club Sochaux for the upcoming Major League Soccer season.
Davies spent last week with United at training camp in Florida on a tryout basis. He scored a goal in a preseason friendly against the Canadian under-20 team and had two goals and an assist in the second half of a match against the Trinidad and Tobago under-20 squad.
The 24-year-old American forward sustained severe injuries in an accident near Washington in October 2009, costing him what appeared to be a certain spot on the World Cup team in South Africa.
